Darren Byfield (born 29 September 1976 in Birmingham, West Midlands) is an English professional footballer of Jamaican descent currently playing for Millwall. He was signed by Millwall during pre-season of the 2006-07 season on a free transfer after he left Gillingham.
Perhaps the most consistent time of his career was spent at Walsall, where he scored a spectacular winning goal in their 2001 Play-off final victory against Reading.
He has also played for Aston Villa and Rotherham United.
His partner is the singer Jamelia, with whom he has a daughter named Tiani. To his embarrassment, she revealed on Soccer AM that his nickname is "Baby Boy".
He scored 14 goals in the 2005-2006 season for the Gills, one short of the target set by manager Ronnie Jepson. His contract ended at the end of the season, and on June 8 it was announced that he had rejected a deal to stay at Priestfield and joined rivals Millwall. [1]
In October 2006 the News of the World published a kiss and tell story alleging that Byfield had cheated on his partner with a girl named Jaclyn Evans. [2]. Jamelia later disputed the allegations.[3]
